Beijing
Badachu Park ( The Eight Great Temples in the Western Hills ) is a Buddhism
temple park with a long history and abundant historical relics. Hundreds
of years, the landscape is famous for "Three Hills, Eight Temples,
Twelve Scenes". The Park got its name from eight ancient temples
which are well preserved in conditions.
- Cuiwei, Pingpo and Lushi are shaped as a huge chair with lush green trees.
- Eight Temples of Changan, lingguang, sanshan, Dabei, longquan,
Xiangjie, Baozhucave, Zhenggou are set crisscrossly on the over slapping
hills or at the quiet and secluded valley. The first site, built
in the Ming Dynasty (1504), was Chang'an Temple, inside which is an
Exhibition Museum. The second site is the best preserved one from
the Tang Dynasty, it has a 13-storied Buddha's Tooth Relic Pagoda
(Temple of Lingguang). Inside the Courtyard is an Apricot Tree dating
from the Yuan Dynasty. Usually tourists start their walk from the third
site and a chair lift carries them up the hill to visit each one.
- Twelve Scenes, such as Chunshan Xingling, Shuigu liuquan,
shengqiu Hongye, CengluanQingxue, are changeable in season and have
people day dream.
Badachu
Park has a desirable climate which is cool in summer and warm in winter.
More than 97 percent of the mountains are covered with trees. Among
which the arbor trees are 400,000 plants in more than 80 species and
the rare ancient trees are 590 plants in 18 species. Some trees are
even over 600 years old, such as the bark pines in Chang'an Temple,
the maidenhair trees in Dabei Temple and the pistacia chinensis in Zhengguo
Temple. Though have been standing there for over 6 centuries, the arborescence
of these trees are still full-grown and in good shape.
After 1949,
especially the recent ten years, historical relics were embellished and
protected precisely, the appearance of the park was changed greatly.
The ancient trees are leaning close to the surprising stones. The imperial
steles are shining up on the pagoda. Promenade in the wooded valley
with friends and experience the difference from those sites which are
over crowded. Also, a 1700-meter long roller-way, speeding up to 80
km per hour, will culminate your visit with an exhilarating ride. The
Park has now become one of the most favourite resorts in the city's
outskirts. In early spring and late autumn many visitors throng to
see the charming mountain view.
