City Wall: Built in the Ming Dynasty(1368-1644), Datong City Wall has beared significant strategic importance since ancient times. It is laid out in a square shape, 14 meters high and 6.5 kilometers long. The base was made from stone strips, slates and blue bricks. Four gates was built along the wall called Heyang Gate, Yongtai Gate, Qingyuan Gate and Wuding Gate.
Shanhua Monastery: Shanhua Monastery is located in central Datong within the old city walls. It was first constructed during the Tang dynasty (618-907AD) though most of the present wooden building dates back to the 12th century. The monastery houses some intricately carved Jin dynasty (265-420AD) statues and has a screen wall decorated with dragons.
Chunyang Palace: Also called "Lvzu Temple", Chunyang Palace was the only Quanzhen Taoism temple in Datong. It was built to sacrifice Taoist Lv Dongbing. Covering an area of 6,000 square meters, there are three main halls along the central axis. Bell and Drum Towers and minor halls were built on the east and west side.
Guandi Temple: Located near the Nine Dragon Screen, Guandi Temple was the only architecture built in the Yuan Dynasty(1271-1368) in Datong. The brackets and of the wing corner on the main hall are unique. On the ceiling of the hall, were painted dragons with diverse gesture.
