Zhenyuan Ancient
Town
Zhenyuan Ancient Town has a long history of more than 2,000
years. It is located in Kaili city, the eastern part of Guizhou Province.
Lying in the lower reaches of the Wuyang River, the old town was a famous
historical and culture site of the whole country.
Zhenyuan
Ancient Town has magnificent traditional Chinese culture and stunning
natural landscapes. It was called Wuyang County in Han dynasty and named
Zhenyuan in the reign of Yongle period in Ming dynasty. With the development
of the society, Zhenyuan had become the political and culture center during
the Ming and Qing periods. The old town has divided into two parts by
the beautifully winded Wuyang River. The town in the north bank was called
Fucheng (Official Town) while the south bank was called Weicheng (Garrison
Town). The whole town has 11 natural scenic spots and more than 160 culture
relics, historic sites and complex of the ancient architecture.
Zhenyuan Ancient Town has endowed with beautiful natural views. It surrounds
by mountains and rivers. There are many famous tourist spots, such as
the Black Dragon Cave, Wuyang River, Peace Village, Sigong Temple and
the Ancient City Wall. The Black Dragon Cave is an ancient architecture
complex which present the Buddhism, Taoism and Confucianism culture with
the magnificent construction and layout. It is composed of the following
parts including the Zhusheng Bridge, Zhongyuan Temple, Ziyang Shuyuan
(academy of classical learning), Jade Emperor Pavilion, Longevity Palace
and Xianglu Yan. The Black Dragon Cave was built along the Zhonghe Mountain
with a river flowing in front. In a word, Zhenyuan Ancient Town is a charming
place in the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau.
