Best Season of Lijiang Tour
Lijiang has three different climate zones, ranging from subtropical in the southeast, to warm temperatures in the center, and cold temperatures in the northwest. Lijiang has a clear annual distinction between the wet and dry seasons. Spring is warm and dry, and this season is good for outdoor sightseeing in Lijiang. Summer is the rainy season with the most beautiful scenery in a year, thus it become the peak season for travel. Autumn is also good time to visit this city for the weather is clear and colorful plants all grows well during those months. Winter is dry and cold. It is not suitable for hiking in this season because mountain regions will be fiercely cold. As a result, the best season to start your Lijiang tour is April to November.

--Lijiang Airport has flights to Kunming, Xishuangbanna, Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Shenzhen and Guiyang, etc. It is situated in the south of Lijiang city. Advice is better get to Kunming and then marching to Lijiang since there are many famous scenic spots in Kunming.
--Lijiang Railway Station is located about five kilometers away from the old town. It operates two scheduled trains coming from Kunming everyday, and vice versa.
Internal Transport: The best way to waling around Lijiang is on foot. You can soak in its leisurely peace of life when you wandering on the street of Lijiang old town. The same with walking, travel by bike is also a good choice to getting around. You can rent a bike in Hongtaiyang Square bike rental service.
Taxi in Lijiang are mainly parked at Jade Dragon Bridge region, you can get them for sightseeing. Bargain first when you get on the car. It can be convenient and fast to get your destination.

Lijiang Tour Tips
Time: Better avoid the period from May 1 to May 7 and October 1 to October 7 because there is long national vacation in China, it will be so crowd in Lijiang and also all around the nation, so pick a good time outside that.
Food: Lijiang food has the features of Han and Tibetan styles. Lijiang is an important stop along the trade road in Tang Dynasty and there are so many wonderful goods passed by the city, even today Lijiang is still an important shopping spot for merchandise from different parts of China and abroad. You can get ethnic and folk featured souvenirs in the city. Worth buying local specialties are: Bunun Bell, Handwoven Cloth, Naxi Silver Ornaments, Naxi Shawls and Lijiang Snow Tea, etc. Handiworks in Lijiang are so popular for souvenir.
·Where to buy?
The most prosperous shopping center in Lijiang is Square Street. A large number of souvenir shops are located here, selling various kinds of decorations and handicrafts. Bu Nong Ling is a good place to buy the Bunong Bell. They are stylish designed and wonderful. The address is east of the big stone bridge of Lijiang Old Town.

Festivals and Customs:
·Zhuanshan Festivals: It is a very important festival for those Mosuo people living along the charming Lugu Lake. On every 25th July of Chinese lunar calendar, the Mosuo people will wear their finest clothes, visiting the Lion Mountain beside Lugu Lake on foot or horseback. They hold a series of entertainments such as horse racing, wrestling and singing. At this time, young men and girls will look for their lovers.
·Bangbang Festival: It is held on 15th January of Chinese lunar calendar every year. The festival marks the end of the Spring Festival and the beginning of the agricultural production in a new year. On that day, locals flock into the Square Street from far and near, selling or buying wooden and bamboo farm tools.
·Naxi Torch Festival: It is a traditional festival among Yi and Bai minority groups. It is also known as the Oriental Carnival. During the Torch Festival, the young men will take some small torches in their hands. They will walk around the farmland and hills together. They will sing songs till the midnight. It is believed that more fire will bring more luck.

Recreation in Lijiang
For recreation, Lijiang has numerous bars and teahouse. Bars in Lijiang are famous around China. There are bar street stretching from the upper section of Dongda Street to Sifang Street.
If you are interested in traditional music and dance, try the Naxi Ancient Music. Melodious Naxi music is performed every night from 20:00 to 21:30 by a group of local senior musicians who are typically more than 60 years old.

Must-see Attractions of Lijiang Tour
Baisha Mural: Baisha Mural is located about ten kilometers to the north of Lijiang Ancient Town. It were kept and displayed in some ancient buildings around Baisha village. The village was the birthplace of the Tusi of Mu, and was the earliest political and spiritual center of Naxi ethnic minority. The murals are one of the good evidences showing the superb artistry, outstanding creativity and rich imaginations of the craftsmen.
Black Dragon Pond: It is located in the north of the city. Black Dragon Pood is a part of Jade Spring Park. It is also known as Dragon King Temple and was listed as one of Chinese Favorable Springs and Chinese Attractions.
First Bend of the Yangtze River: It is only about 50 kilometers or 30 miles away from Lijiang. It is called the “first bend” because the river makes a 90 degree turn from south to east within a distance of 1 kilometer. The place was important militarily because big armies crossed the river at that point, and it was a place where Tibetans came down to trade with the people living in the area.
Jade Dragon Snow Mountain: The Mountain is consisted of thirteen peaks. Looking from Lijiang Old Town in the south which is 15 kilometers (nine miles) away, the snow-covered and fog-enlaced mountain resembles a jade dragon lying in the clouds. Jade Dragon Snow Mountain is a sanctuary for rare animals and wild plants. It is a famous scenic spot for sightseeing, mountaineering, skiing, exploration, scientific research and taking holiday.
The Ancient Town of Lijiang: It is a well-preserved old city of ethnic minorities with brilliant culture and is a central town of the Lijiang Autonomous County of the Naxi Ethnic Minority in Yunnan Province. The Ancient Town was firstly built in the late Song Dynasty and the early Yuan Dynasty and has a history of more than 800 years. It is a historical and cultural town with great value integrates the local history, culture, tradition and presents fundamental characteristics of social development at that time.
Lugu Lake: The Lake lies two hundred kilometers away from the city center of Lijiang. The shape of it is a horse's hoof - long from north to south and narrower from east to west. On the lake there are five islands. They are different sizes and are like green boats floating on the water. Heiwawu Island, Liwubi Island, and Lige Island are most notable. Heiwawu Island is in the center of the lake and has a variety of birds living on it. The lake is like a beautiful pearl shining among the hills of the northwest plateau in Yunnan.
Tiger Leaping Gorge: Tiger Leaping Gorge lies at the Jinshan River where Lijiang and Shangrila meet. It was said that a gigantic tiger had leaped across the gorge. The fall from top to bottom of the gorge amounts to more than 3,000 meters, which allows the gorge to have the biggest drop in elevation around the globe. The gorge enjoys the fame as being queer, perilous, sublime and magnificent in the world.
