Jinci Temple: As the most famous tourist spots in Taiyuan, Jinci Temple has a long history which can be traced back to the Western Zhou Dynasty. It is located about twenty five miles to the southwest of Taiyuan city. Jinci Temple was an imperial garden before. It is a combination of historical cultural relics and beautiful landscapes. Mt. Wutai: Mt. Wutai is one of the four mountains of China sacred to Buddhism. It has the distinction of having been identified as the most prestigious and oldest one. Mount Wutai is rich in historical relics, ancient folk art, folk customs, and, of course, Buddhist culture. There are many temples and pagodas on Mt. Wutai. It has the longest and most prestigious history among the four famous Buddhist Mountains in China and was enrolled as a World Heritage Site by the UNESCO in 2009.
Twin Pagoda Temple: Twin pagoda Temple is also known as Yongzu Temple. There are two 53-meter-tall pagodas standing in the temple, hence the name 'Twin Pagoda Temple'. It was built in the Ming Dynasty during 1608. Each of the pagodas has 13 stories and is made entirely of bricks and stone. The exterior was sculptured in the shape of an octagon and decorated with the exquisite flying eaves. The best time to visit the temple is in spring when all the peony and cloves are in their full bloom.
Shanxi Museum: Shanxi Museum is the largest center for the collection, preservation, research and exhibition of cultural property in Shanxi Province.
