Zoo, situated
in the western suburb of Chongqing with undulating green hills, wriggling ravines,
and clear waters, is the largest zoological garden in Southwest-China and one
of the large-size in the whole country.

Zoo was built in 1953 and occupies 60 hectares of land. The zoo has become the
most important sites for protection of rare birds and animals. It houses .over
1,000 birds and animals of 170 species including the pandas, goldfish, birds,
water animals, buffalos, elephants, lions and tigers, camels and monkeys. The
lovable giant pandas have boarded many trips to be hailed by their fans overseas.
