Northern
Hot Springs Park is situated at the foot of Jinyun Mountain, alongside
the Jialing River and 55 kilometers northeast of Chongqing.
The park
is the site of a 5th century Buddhist Temple. It is a combination of hot
springs, temple buildings of Ming and Qing Dynasties, ancient trees, flower
gardens, fish and lotus ponds, waterfalls, and limestone caves.
Northern
Hot Springs Park has 10 hot springs. The water has an average temperature
between 35C (95F) and 37C (98.6F) and contains lime, sodium carbonate,
sodium sulfate and other minerals, which make it suitable for bathing
and the treatment of quite a few diseases such as Dermatitis, Rheumatism,
Arthritis and Muscular Pain.
The Guanyin Palace in the Northern Hot Springs Park was built with iron
tiles and stone pillars. There are also a stone Buddha of the Song Dynasty
and a dragon pagoda of the Ming Dynasty in the park.
