Seven Star Park lies in the east of the town and it is the largest public
park in Guilin. The park is named after the seven peaks located throughout
that are shaped like the Big Dipper constellation. Amongst the peaks are
several explorable caves, including "Seven
Star Cave", which are quite famous for having stalagmites, stalactites
and other natural formations that resemble animals and landscapes.
This delightful park has been landscaped to encompass hills and natural
waterways. The main entrance to the park is over the Flower Bridge, an
elegant arched structure dating from the Song Dynasty. Crescent Hill is
to the right, so named for its crescent-moon shaped rock. This hill is
the 200 calligraphy carvings in the caves within it. In the left is Putuo
Hill and Camel Hill is eastwards to it. Being so like a camel, it is hard
to believe that it is an entirely natural formation.
