Wave
Well, situated in northern Jiujiang City, is a small ancient well with
a quaint history.
Wave
Well was
dug by famous commander Guang Ying in 201 B.C. in the Western Han Dynasty.
Su Quan, ruler of the State of Wu, ordered that it be made deep and big.
As it is connected with the Yangtze River, when a wind created waves on
the river, the surface of the well water would ripple too. Hence, its
name. This was such a good omen that the well was renamed Auspicious Well.
Waves no longer appear on its surface, but the well is still in use now.
