Fu Xi Temple

Fuxi Temple is located in the western area of Tianshui County, Gansu Province. It is the only temple with sculpture of Fuxi in Tianshui, and the important place to know the local culture. Fuxi is one of the legendary forefathers of the Chinese people in ancient times. Legend has it that he once saved human beings from extinction. So the temple was built in memory of him.

Fuxi Temple was originally constructed in 1490 and reestablished in1524 with an area of 2,000,000 square meters. Taiji Palace with 46.7-meter high is the main building in the temple and the colorful sculpture of Fuxi is in it. It is a magnificent construction with eight golden pillars support the roof and dragons and other ornaments on the ridge. There are many Fuxi Cultural Festival activities, such as Fuxi memorial ceremony, Fuxi cultural exchange and trade fair held in May of the lunar calendar every year.
