Abakh
Khoja Tomb is located in the northeast of Kashi.It is
the family tomb of Abakh Khoja, the powerful 17th century ruler of Kashi
who was revered as the prophet second after Mohammed, and five generations
of his family are buried here.
The tomb was first built in 1640 with a group of beautiful and magnificent
buildings including the Tombs Hall, the Doctrine-Teaching Hall, the Great
Hall of Prayer, the gate tower, a pond and orchard. Among them, the tomb
chamber is the most exquisite dome-style structure in Xinjiang. The walls
of this chamber are made of green glazed bricks with colorful paintings.
The Great Hall of Prayer in the west part of the tomb is the place for
Muslim believers conduct service on their big days. The gate of the tomb
is located in the south of the chamber. The gesso flowers on both sides
of the gate are elegant and refined. Outside, the pond is surrounded by
tall trees, which making the place quiet and magnific.
