It is a large temple originally constructed in Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) during the reign of Emperor Wanlin. Wugong Temple is the most important one among the various temples there since the Temple was built to commemorate five famous officials banished to Hainan during Tang Dynasty (618-907). This renovated temple is renowned for its tranquil atmosphere and beautiful architecture.
Then we will visit the Tomb of Hai Rui. He is a highly principled, upright and outspoken minister during the mid-Ming Dynasty, Hai Rui was regarded as the ‘lord of the civilians’. The tomb was built in 1589 under the order of Emperor Wanlin. The aim is commemorate Hai Rui’s honesty in performing official duties, justice in enforcing laws and bravery in defying influential officials.
