Best Season of Tibet Tour
Theoretically speaking, the best season to visit Tibet is April to October. It is beautiful in Tibet and many local festivals will be held during these months. Temperature in spring, summer and autumn is not different so much, but the temperature difference a lot in day and night. If you want to enjoy a different Tibet tour you can also arrange your time during winter. It is not so cold in Tibet winter, for the bright sunshine in this season, and you can experience the Tibet New Year Celebration in winter. So, all year round is good time for your Tibet tour.

Clothes and other Staffs to Pack
Suggestion is that if you have heart disease, chronic respiratory diseases, severe colds or you are high-risk pregnant women, please do note enter to the places with altitude of 3000 meters or above.
Most annual rainfall comes in the rainy season that starts from May to September; if you start your Tibet tour in these moths bring yourself an umbrella or a raincoat.
A down coat is necessary for those who are traveling beyond Lhasa and Shigatse. The windbreaker and a sweater could be taken in summer. Women should avoid skirts or dresses. Comfortable, sturdy sneakers, walking shoes, or hiking boots are also recommended.
Sunscreen, good sunglasses, hat, etc. are recommended to protect your skin from the intensive sunshine of this plateau area, especially in summer.

Accommodation of Tibet Tour
There are hotels and guest houses for the travelers in most cities and counties. In Lhasa, the accommodation ranges from guest houses to four star hotels. In Shigatse, Gyangtse, Tsedang and Nyingchi, the highest standard hotel is three stars. In Tingri, Zhangmu and Nakchu, the highest are two stars while in other smaller or remote areas, accommodation is mainly in guest houses. It is recommended that visitors make reservation in advance in the tourist season.
Tibet Traffic: You can get to Tibet by air, by road and by train. You can enjoy more unique sceneries along the road by train and get faster by plane, while the biggest benefit by car is that you can spend more time to enjoy all the wonderful things on the way to Tibet.
Ways to Get in Tibet: There are two airports in Tibet while Gonggar airport connects Lhasa to many major cities in China.
Five highways stretching into Tibet nowadays, Sichuan-Tibet Highway is the longest one of them. Besides, there is Qinghai-Tibet Highway, Xinjiang-Tibet Highway, Yunnan-Tibet Highway and Chinese-Nepalese Highway could reach to Tibet.
Tibet Railway has been open to the travelers since July 1, 2006. It is also a good way to get in Tibet by train.
Internal Transport: Passengers can take the airport shuttle bus to the downtown which is 60 km far from the airport. Or take taxi to anywhere you prefer in the downtown.
Buses and taxies are all available in the city region as other cities in China. There has no subway in Tibet.
Tibet Tour Tips
First of all, non-Chinese passport holders need a Tibet Travel Permit to visit Tibet, and the only way to enter Tibet is to travel in groups. Non individual travelers are allowed to travel to Tibet at the moment. Your whole tour in Tibet must be accompanied by a licensed tour guide.
Time: Better avoid rush tourist season in 1st May to 3rd May and 1st October to 7th October, they are two national holiday in China. In those periods, it will be very crowd on the street and the famous tourist spots.
Food: The feature of Tibetan cuisine is light, sweet and aromatic. Some dishes are even just mixed without spices except some salt, shallot and garlic. The yak and sheep meat is the favorite food in Tibet, they believe eat more meet can make their body stronger. There are some food taboos in different places in Tibet; dog, horse and donkey meat is taboo for dishes, some Tibetan do not eat chicken or even eggs, so, please consult your guide before order your dishes.
Tsamba, the Buttered tea, sweet milk tea, yogurt and Chang are common food in Tibet. Dried beef and mutton stripe is also popular food in Tibet. Certainly there have some other cuisines if Tibetan cuisines are not caters to your taste, Sichuan cuisine and western meals are all available.
Water: Tap water in the hotel could not be drink directly.
Shopping: There are many special local products worth to buy in Tibet, but be sure to by something practical. You can find what you like in Lhasa Department Store; it is the largest and best known department store in Lhasa. Cotton clothing, mugs, canned food, local handicrafts could all be found here.
Barkhor is another traditional market in Tibet. There are many small shops and stalls on the street, prayer flags, Buddha figures, conch-shell trumpets, rosaries, amulets, fur hats, horse bells, bridles, copper teapots, wooden bowls, inlaid knives, and jewelry inlaid with turquoise could be found on this street. You can bargain with the local people and buy nice things at lower prices.
Festivals: Obviously, Tibetan culture is the major cultural element in Tibet, they have their own Tibetan calendar and with many different festivals, so many interesting festivals are held all around year, and you can definitely enjoy yourself in those festivals. Here are some festivals to inform:

Customs: In order to avoid impoliteness and trouble, some basic customs should be learned before you go or consult your guide according to the actual situation.
·Please do not goad or hurt flocks and herds in red, yellow and green cloth for they are the sacrifice to gods of Tibetan.
·Please do not enter a temple, touch Buddhism statue, inscriptions, take picture without permits; follow the rule when walk around some temple or pagodas, namely going clockwise around the religion buildings and no smoking inside. Ladies may be not allowed to enter some specific places.
·Please do not step on the threshold or spit when you are entering a local Tibetan house.
·Please don't feel upset when local Tibetans stick out their tongue at you as they are showing their respect rather than contempt.
·Please don't purchase any fur, bones or horn of the wildlife in Tibet area for they are protected by the government.
Recreation in Tibet (Lhasa)
Many ways are available for your recreation in Tibet. The most famous night market in Lhasa is Tianhai Night Market on the west suburb of the city. It is known for the great variety of goods and for being cheaper than the market on the Barkhor Street.
Tibetan singing and dancing show is the performance you should never miss on your Tibet tour. Langma opera is the favorite dancing and singing show in Tibet, Xinshiji Langma Hall is one of the more authentic and pleasurable places to watch the performance, where visitors can drink beer and enjoy the dance in a truly cultural environment.
Bars and pubs are also available. Some recommend places following: Travelers Bar (East Beijing Road), Music Kitchen (No.77, West Beijing Road), Barkhor Café (South side of Jokhang Temple).

Namtso Lake: Namtso is one of the three holy lakes in Tibet; it plays an important role among Tibetans. Every sheep year in Tibetan calendar, the Trekking Namtso Festival is held and numerous pilgrims from far away visit the lake to pay homage, also it is the second largest salt lake in China.
Yarlung Zangbo Grand Canyon: As the deepest and longest canyons in the world, Yarlung Zangbo Grand Canyon attracts many tourists to explore its mysterious. This canyon is home of many animals and plants barely found in the world, they are scarcely influenced by human; you can see them in the canyon.
